2010 Autumn Special Exhibition "Treasures Across the Seas - Mount Koya in Asia"

Many of the cultural assets handed down to Mount Koya came all the way across the sea. The autumn exhibition will introduce a wide range of masterpieces brought from China and the Korean Peninsula, and consider the connection between Mount Koya and neighboring Asian countries. Enjoy the beauty of precious Buddhist paintings from the Song Dynasty and the Goryeo and Joseon Dynasties in China, as well as the beauty of esoteric Buddhist ritual implements from the Tang Dynasty in China, of which few have been preserved. Don't miss the exquisite Goryeo Dynasty sutra copies, some of which were purchased by monks from Hakata to be donated to Mount Koya. Other highlights include the porcelain and old coins from China that were buried around the Okunoin Lantern Hall and the mausoleum.

On Sunday, November 21st, from 2:00 pm, a curator from the museum will give a commentary on the exhibits (approximately 40 minutes). No prior registration is required. Please feel free to join us.
