Mount Koya was founded in 816 with the imperial charter of Emperor Saga, and over the course of its long history it has attracted the faith of the emperor and imperial family, and numerous treasures have been deposited there. This exhibition will feature items on display for the first time, including calligraphy written by the emperor himself, the imperial crown, and lavish furnishings. Throughout history, the emperor and Mount Koya have influenced each other in terms of religion, culture, and sometimes politics, and have been at the mercy of the waves of the times. What did the emperor and the dynasty see in Mount Koya?
