The year 2015 marks 600 years since the deaths of the two great deities Yukai and Chokaku. Yukai and Chokaku were instrumental in the rise of teachings at Mount Koya during the Muromachi period, to the extent that this rise was later called the "Oei Taisei." The school of Yukai, who was the head of Hosho-in, was called Homon, while the school of Chokaku, who was the head of Muryoju-in, was called Jumon, and they were the two forces that divided teachings at Mount Koya at the time. They continued to serve as the leading sub-temples into the Edo period, and in the Meiji period, the two temples merged to become Hoju-in.

Hojuin Temple still preserves many masterpieces that were once held at Hoshoin Temple and Muryojuin Temple, including those left behind by the two founders Yukai and Chokaku. To commemorate 600 years since the deaths of these two founders, we will be showcasing the cultural properties handed down at Hojuin Temple under the title "Treasures of Hojuin Temple."
