The 39th Great Treasure House Exhibition "Treasures of Mount Koya: The Warriors and Mount Koya"

One way to read the word 'bushi' is 'mononofu'. The history of the samurai began as early as the Heian period and continued through the Edo period, but when people hear the word 'bushi', many of them think of the Sengoku period. During the Sengoku period, many warlords fought all over the country. These warlords had a deep relationship with the temples at Mount Koya, forming a 'shidan' contract with each other. For this reason, Mount Koya is home to memorial towers for warlords from all over the country, and many cultural properties related to them have been passed down.

This exhibition will display items related to warriors, including lords of the Sengoku period, that have been passed down at Mount Koya, with a focus on national treasures and important cultural properties.
