In 2024, the various halls of Koyasan's Danjo Garan (Daigaran) were designated as Important Cultural Properties. Danjo Garan is one of Koyasan's two major sacred sites, along with Okunoin, where temples and pagodas represent the world of Esoteric Shingon Buddhism, founded by Kobo Daishi Kukai (Odaishi-sama). Many temples and pagodas were built in Danjo Garan, and it has been burned down and rebuilt many times to become what it is today. Please come and see the history and treasures of Danjo Garan, which has been passed down by many monks and believers for one thousand two hundred years.
