List of the beauties of Mount Koya's Pure Land

The belief in going to the Western Paradise, which swept across the country from the late Heian to the Kamakura periods, flocked to the mountains of Esoteric Shingon Buddhism, which claimed to be the land of esoteric Buddhism, and the cries of chanting "Nenbutsu" for going to the Pure Land echoed through the valleys. The belief that this mountain, where Kobo Daishi, the savior between the two Buddhas, attained eternal life, was also a paradise on earth, led to the graves of those who wished to have their bones buried in the inner sanctuary of the Daishi's temple, and Mount Koya has come to present the appearance of Japan's greatest bodhisattva.

This year's Sacred Treasures Exhibition will display precious artworks that represent the various wishes of these people, and hope to acquaint modern-day people with one side of Mount Koya's past.
