The Koyasan Reihokan Museum will be holding the 14th Koyasan Great Treasure House Exhibition, "The Myo-o Statues of Mt. Koya."
Mount Koya has a great number of beautiful statues of Myo-o.
Myo-o is a deity unique to esoteric Buddhism and is one expression of Mahavairocana.

Myo-o is a deity unique to esoteric Buddhism and is one expression of Mahavairocana.
In other words, they are deities who, under the command of Dainichi Nyorai, show a wrathful appearance and subdue all evil obstacles, and many of them hold various weapons, are wrapped in flames, are multifaceted and multi-armed, and are adorned with snakes and skulls, have terrifying expressions, and express a mysterious appearance and fierce power. Among them, the Kujaku Myoo is an exception, and is an early deity in the form of a bodhisattva riding a peacock, whose sutras were established around the 5th century.
After that, all Myo-o that appeared from the 7th century onwards were in wrathful form.
This wrathful expression is a manifestation of mercy, and the wrathful expression of the Myo-o not only punishes evil, but also includes its salvation.
Since ancient times, so many people have prayed to these Myo-o and sought salvation.
It would be our great pleasure if visitors are inspired by the weight of the years of history, the reality of faith, the charm of antiquity, and refined beauty through their encounter with the numerous Myo-o statues that are based on reality and are associated with Mount Koya as an object of faith.
