The 27th Koyasan Great Treasure Exhibition "Treasures of Mount Koya"

Mount Koya was founded by Kobo Daishi Kukai as a training center about twelve hundred years ago. Since then, it has adapted to the times and been supported by the faith of many people, building up a history that can be said to be unique to Mount Koya. Geographically, it is a mountain basin that is narrow from north to south and wide from east to west, and in this environment, 117 temples currently exist.
The temples of Mount Koya have a relatively large number of treasures. However, since Mount Koya was founded, the temple has experienced four major fires, and it is thought that an immeasurable number of treasures have been lost. Many of the treasures and famous treasures that have been passed down to the present day were created based on unbroken faith and culture, or were brought from various places. These treasures are precious and famous treasures that have survived and been protected through many crises.
In modern times, treasures have come to be treated as cultural assets. Koyasan Reihokan Museum has gathered them all together, preserved them, and made them publicly available. Once a year, the museum holds a special exhibition entitled "Koyasan Great Treasure Exhibition." This exhibition will display some of Koyasan's famous treasures, mainly Buddhist statues and paintings. There will be a total of 71 items on display, including 9 national treasures, 23 important cultural properties (important cultural properties), 6 Waka prefecture-designated items, 1 important art object, and 32 undesignated items. In addition, the regular exhibition will feature approximately 20 important cultural properties.
The highlight of this exhibition will be a display of some of the dedications made by warlords during their time at Mount Koya, as well as their belongings. Portraits such as the statue of Takeda Shingen at Seikei-in Temple and the statues of Azai Nagamasa and his wife at Jimyo-in Temple are famous throughout the country.
